Frequently Asked Questions

I work with older adults who want support maintaining independence, as well as family members who are helping care for a parent, partner, or loved one. Services are tailored to each family’s situation and goals.

People often reach out after a health change, hospital discharge, or when caregiving becomes stressful or confusing. Others contact me proactively to plan ahead and avoid crises. There is no “too early” time to ask for guidance.

I offer in-home visits in Metro Vancouver. I also provide virtual consultations and ongoing support anywhere in British Columbia. With the client’s consent, I am happy to communicate and coordinate with family members or other support people located anywhere, as long as the client themselves resides in BC.

Elder care consulting is a private-pay service and is not covered by MSP. Some extended health plans may offer partial reimbursement; I encourage you to check with your insurer.

Public health care services are essential and provide critical support for many seniors and families. I have worked within the publicly funded health care system for over 12 years and continue to do so, and I have seen firsthand how much the system does well. At the same time, it is designed to serve many people with limited resources, which can mean short appointments, changing providers, eligibility limits, and gaps in ongoing guidance or coordination.
By working privately with an elder care consultant, families gain dedicated time, individualized attention, and ongoing support from a consistent RN who understands both the health care system and the realities of aging at home. This additional support complements public services and can reduce stress, prevent crises, and help families make informed, confident decisions.

For virtual and in-person visits, I charge $140 per hour, pro-rated to the nearest 15 minutes. For background work that doesn’t require direct communication with clients or families (such as faxing physicians, communicating with pharmacy or making phone calls on your behalf), I charge $60 per hour, pro-rated to the nearest 15 minutes.

I can provide a holistic assessment and care plan that helps support you in meeting your goals. Specific examples of care plan items might include medication review and optimization, tools to increase your safety at home, advance care planning, navigating community resources, managing appointments and care between several physicians or specialists, and making recommendations for new or other services to access to optimize your health and independence.
